Accessibility

The Karlstejn castle is situated on the left bank of river Berounka. That is about sixteen kilometers southeast from Beroun and twenty kilometers southwest from Prague. The centre of a village carrying the same name is about one and half kilometers far from the castle. To reach this historical sight you have to walk from a train stop named Karlštejn (on the track Prague – Beroun - Plzeň). Follow the yellow and red tourist markings. The path is about two kilometers long. The busses do not go here. If you are driving a car you will have to leave it on a central parking in the village (there is no closer parking place to the castle). The castle is approximately one and half kilometers far from the parking. The steep valley is edged by shops with souvenirs, so it is actually quite a lovely walk. However if you do not wish to walk the hill, you can use local taxis (slightly overpriced) or horse carriages.
